COURSE MODULES

  1. Neurological examination
Neurological Examination is a specialized medical training program that focuses on the comprehensive assessment of the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. This specialized training is crucial for healthcare professionals, such as neurologists and neurosurgeons, to develop expertise in evaluating patients with neurological conditions and disorders.
During this fellowship, participants learn advanced skills in conducting a thorough neurological examination, which typically includes a series of assessments to evaluate a patient’s cognitive function, cranial nerves, motor and sensory systems, reflexes, coordination, and gait. They are trained to use specialized tools and techniques, such as reflex hammers and tuning forks, to accurately diagnose and evaluate various neurological conditions.
The primary goal of a Neurological Examination fellowship is to enable healthcare professionals to diagnose and monitor a wide range of neurological disorders, including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. This expertise is crucial for developing effective treatment plans, providing patients with the appropriate care, and ensuring the best possible outcomes for individuals with neurological conditions.
  2. Motor examination
Motor Examination is a specialized medical training program that focuses on assessing and evaluating an individual’s motor function, which includes the strength, coordination, and control of their muscles and movements. This specialized training is essential for healthcare professionals, particularly neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, and physical therapists, to develop expertise in diagnosing and managing conditions related to motor function.  During this fellowship, participants learn advanced skills in conducting a comprehensive motor examination. This examination typically involves assessing muscle strength, range of motion, coordination, and the integrity of the nervous system’s motor pathways. Specialized tests and techniques, such as muscle strength testing, gait analysis, and reflex assessments, are used to evaluate a patient’s motor capabilities.
  3. Poor coordination
Poor Coordination is a specialized medical training program that focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and management of individuals who experience difficulties with coordination in their movements. This specialized training is essential for healthcare professionals, including neurologists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists, to develop expertise in understanding and addressing coordination-related issues. During this fellowship, participants learn advanced skills in evaluating and diagnosing poor coordination. The assessment typically involves observing and testing a patient’s ability to control and synchronize their movements, such as fine motor skills, balance, and posture. Various standardized tests and assessments, along with advanced diagnostic tools, are often used to identify the underlying causes of poor coordination, which can include neurological, musculoskeletal, or developmental factors.
  4.  Numbness and tingling
Numbness and Tingling is a specialized medical training program that focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients experiencing sensory disturbances such as numbness and tingling in various parts of the body. Healthcare professionals, including neurologists and physiatrists, undertake this specialized training to develop expertise in understanding and addressing these sensory abnormalities. During this fellowship, participants learn advanced skills in conducting thorough clinical assessments to identify the causes of numbness and tingling. This often involves neurological examinations, electrophysiological studies, and imaging techniques to diagnose conditions like peripheral neuropathy, radiculopathy, and other sensory disorders.
  5. Acute confusional states
Acute Confusional States is a specialized medical training program that focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and management of individuals experiencing sudden and severe confusion or altered mental states. Healthcare professionals, including neurologists and geriatricians, undertake this specialized training to develop expertise in understanding and addressing these acute cognitive disturbances.participants learn advanced skills in conducting comprehensive clinical assessments to identify the underlying causes of acute confusional states. These assessments often involve evaluating medical, neurological, and psychiatric factors contributing to the condition, and may include imaging studies and laboratory tests.
  6.  Memory disorders
The Memory Disorders Fellowship is a specialized program aimed at advancing research and clinical expertise in the field of cognitive health and memory disorders. This fellowship provides an immersive learning experience for professionals and researchers interested in delving deep into the complexities of memory-related conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other cognitive impairments. During the fellowship, participants gain in-depth knowledge of the latest diagnostic and treatment strategies, as well as cutting-edge research in the field. They have the opportunity to collaborate with leading experts and practitioners, contributing to ongoing studies and patient care.
